QUEER CONCERTS COMING UP: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
On the heels of Muna and King Princess, we thought it would be fun to highlight some queer concerts coming up so that we’re all in the know about them. Queer artists have made a big boom in recent years, giving a lot of people the affirmation and expression they’ve been needing.
If you’re a fan of live music and dancing your ass off, you’ve come to the right place. There’s nothing quite like the atmosphere of a concert and the feeling you get when your favorite artists come out on stage. That feeling is even more intensified when those artists personify queerness. Seeing representation on the big stage is what we all need.
I promise the real thing is way better than your airpods. Plus, you never know where you’ll make some new friends or even meet that special someone you’ve been waiting for. Here is a list of various queer concerts between now and the new year, in sequential order:
Sammy Rae & The Friends - 11/02/22 Gothic Theatre
Fresh off a new single, this band is sure to bring the heat. They are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and friendly environment and encourage everyone to be themselves. Not to mention their music is the light and breezy kind of sound that makes you feel free.
Fletcher - 11/06/22 Ogden Theatre
Fletcher caused quite the splash on Tiktok with her new album, and we’re here for it. Drama aside, the songs are good, and there’s no way to have a bad time at that show.
Teagan and Sara - 11/08/22 Gothic Theatre
This duo needs no introduction, and I’m sure you need no convincing to get tickets. Their new origin-story drama “High School” was just released on Freevee, and is based on their co-written memoir. Crybaby, their new album is out October 21. The pair is pretty widely known as the OG lesbian icons, and their show is one you won’t want to miss.
Soccer Mommy - 12/03/22 Ogden Theatre
She doesn’t play soccer and she isn’t a mommy, but the intricate storytelling she does through her songs is no joke. Her songs are a dreamy mix of acoustic and pop, and her concert is sure to have a similar dreamy vibe.
Betty Who - 3/24/23 Ogden Theatre
This isn’t until March, but her performance at Pride Fest was so fun, we couldn’t help but highlight it. The boy band vibe was impeccable, and she really brought the energy. She just released her new album “Big” and there will certainly be no shortage of dancing at her show in March.
The days are getting shorter, but that only means the nights are getting longer. And what better way to spend your nights than singing your heart out surrounded by the queers of Denver? I can’t think of anything better. Get out there and get your groove on!
If you have extra tickets or know of other queer concerts coming up, let the people know!
